Sooner Sports TV, the school’s long-anticipated venture with Fox Sports, will be announced during the broadcast, a source said.
Coaches shows, pregame shows and postgame shows will be part of the package. Fox Sports has a pregame show, “Sooner Sports Gameday,” set for 8:30 p.m. ahead of the 9:30 kickoff at the Sun Bowl.

Oklahoma commit D.J Ward transfers to Southmoore HS: D.J. Ward, the No. 1 player in the state for the 2013 class and an OU commitment, is apparently moving again.
Ward left Douglass and enrolled in Southmoore on Thursday, sources at both schools told The Oklahoman.
Gaining eligibility at Southmoore could be an issue, though, because Ward had to file a hardship waiver with the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association in order to play at Douglass.

During practice, the Vikings cleared defenders to make contact with Peterson's upper body. Coach Leslie Frazier was pleased with Peterson's reaction to the contact.
"There were times there was nowhere to go and he had to run into people, and he responded well," Frazier said. "That was good to see. There were some good, hard hits. Nothing to the ground, just guys thudding him."
Griffin had to watch the U.S. men's basketball team win the gold medal while able to do little more than practice shooting. But he is doing drills and running this week as he continues rehabbing from the July 16 surgery to repair a medial meniscus tear of his knee that he suffered during practice with the U.S. team in Las Vegas.
"I'm doing all my normal movements," he said. "I feel like I'm at 100%."

“Unsure right now,” Stoops said when asked about Walker’s status for the game. Stoops said the issue is not a football related issue.
Walker is currently listed as a starter at one of the defensive tackle spots, along with David King. If Walker cannot play, senior Jamarkus McFarland will likely get the start. Redshirt freshman Jordan Phillips is also listed on the two-deep depth chart and the Sooners were hoping to rotate all four at the two defensive tackle spots against the Miners.
NORMAN, Okla. -- FOX Sports Oklahoma announced today that it will distribute the Sept. 8 football game between the University of Oklahoma and Florida A&M at 6 p.m. CT on pay-per-view to participating program providers. Suggested retail price is $39.95. The pay-per-view telecast will be available in high-definition.
The game is being televised on pay-per-view because it wasn't selected for over-the-air broadcast or cable television coverage. Pay-per-view allows fans the option to watch a game they otherwise wouldn't be able to see on TV.
NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Programs and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione and Head Men's Basketball Coach Lon Kruger announced today that the Sooners will play two of their 2012 home games at historic McCasland Field House on the OU campus.
OU's Nov. 7 exhibition game against Central Oklahoma (7 p.m. CT) and Dec. 31 regular season contest versus Texas A&M Corpus-Christi (2 p.m.) will be played as part of the inaugural Field House Series inside the 84-year-old venue.

NORMAN, Okla. -- The Matt Potter era began Friday with a 2-1 win over visiting Nebraska behind a pair of goals from newcomer Renae Cuellar (KWAY-ar) in front of 832 fans at John Crain Field.
"Obviously, Renae is a talent and we all know that," said Potter. "She had her individual moments for sure, but people found her. When those people find her, she is going to be dangerous. It's a collective effort. Renae received the reward for some great endeavor from some other people tonight."
The Sooners also received a stellar effort in goal by senior Kelsey Devonshire, who made seven second half saves to limit Nebraska to one goal after the Huskers struck first in the 19th minute.

USC earned the top spot in The Associated Press' preseason college football poll for the seventh time in school history and the first time in five seasons, edging out No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 LSU.
The Trojans received 25 of a possible 60 first-place votes from a media panel in a close vote. USC received 1,445 points. Defending national champion Alabama had 17 first-place votes and 1,411 points while LSU, the Crimson Tide's SEC rival, got 16 first-place votes and 1,402 points.
Defensive back Jesse Paulsen now on scholarship: Senior Jesse Paulsen earned a scholarship at defensive back, but the news for Paulsen doesn't end there. Tony Jefferson said Paulsen's the No. 2 guy behind him. The Albuquerque, N.M., native played in 13 games during the last two seasons for the Sooners.
“Jesse is a hard player,” Jefferson said. “Many people don't' know, but he works hard. We had him on special teams last year, and he stepped up in the scrimmage and was making plays.” (The Oklahoman)
“That would be news to me,” Bradford said Thursday night after practice. “To be honest, I’m tired of talking about the ankle.
“Until it causes me to miss reps or miss time, it’s a non-issue.”
Bradford missed six games with a high left ankle sprain last season, aggravating the injury a few times after being hurt in mid-October and sitting out the final three games. He brought up the injury after the team scrimmaged earlier this month when asked generically how he felt physically, volunteering the ankle would need to be managed.

Jim Donnan allegedly took millions in a ponzi scheme: Former Georgia coach Jim Donnan used his influence to get high-profile college coaches and former players to invest $80 million into a Ponzi scheme, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said Thursday.
Donnan and a business partner convinced investors to put money into a liquidation company that bought and resold appliances and furniture, the SEC said. Donnan and Gregory Crabtree, of Proctorville, Ohio, told investors the business was unique and profitable with huge potential and little risk, said William P. Hicks, associate director of the SEC's Atlanta office.
The pair raised about $80 million from nearly 100 investors, but only about $12 million of that was used to buy merchandise while the remainder was used to pay false returns or was pocketed by Donnan and Crabtree, the SEC said. Donnan also funneled large sums to family members, according to the SEC.
Stoops said Friday after practice that defensive end David King will move inside to make up for the loss of McGee, who has started 17 games over the past three seasons.
As it is, he will be able to finish his school work this semester. He is not sure if he will be able to go through his graduation in person.
"Just being there for years and putting in a lot of work on and off the field and in the community -- no disrespect to Oklahoma, I'm sure that this is a great university -- but I just felt like it meant a lot to get that Penn State degree," said Brown, one of nine players to leave the Nittany Lions after NCAA sanctions were handed down that allowed them to transfer and play right away without sitting out this season.

The tight end appeared to hyperextend his right knee at the end of a 25-yard catch-and-run midway through the first quarter. Quarterback Andy Dalton connected on a short pass to Gresham, who made pretty spin move before being pulled down by Atlanta Falcons cornerback Brent Grimes.
Gresham limped on the sidelines, but didn't show any sign of a serious injury. The Bengals quickly announced he would not return to the game. (NFL.com)
NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma soccer team (0-0) kicks off the 2012 season at home for fourth time in the last six years when it hosts Nebraska (0-0) on Friday, Aug. 17. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start time at John Crain Field at the OU Soccer Complex and is the start of a four-game homestand for the Sooners. OU will also host LSU, Nicholls State and Vanderbilt in the longest homestand of 2012.
OU is coming off a 2-0 exhibition loss at home against Tulsa on Saturday. Nebraska was victorious in its lone exhibition game with a 2-0 decision at South Dakota State on Aug. 10. Nebraska enters its 19th season under head coach John Walker. The Huskers were 7-10-1 in 2011 and finished 10th (4-7) in their first season in the Big 10 Conference. NU returns six starters from a year ago and was picked to finish 10th this season by the league coaches.
The Sooners are 2-12-1 all-time against the Huskers after the last meeting in 2010, which ended in a scoreless tie in Norman. The double overtime game ended a five-game winning streak for Nebraska in the series. OU last topped NU in 2004, a 1-0 decision in Norman. The Sooners are 1-5-1 all-time against the Huskers in Norman. Nine of the 15 all-time meetings have been decided by one goal or less, with Nebraska holding a 7-1-1 advantage.

Oklahoma will redshirt running back Daniel Brooks after suffering torn ACL: Running back Daniel Brooks, who committed to the Sooners in March 2011 then suffered a knee injury his senior year of high school, is finally running again and hopes to regain his health as he redshirts this season.
“He wasn’t able to practice but we still brought him in with the 105 group (this summer), so that he could rehabilitate,” Bob Stoops said Tuesday. “He’s been diligent out there with the trainers and he’s been running the past week-and-a-half. He’s been very diligent just going through the rehab phase. And he’s doing well with it.”
Stoops added that the Sooners never wavered in honoring Brooks’ scholarship, even though it was apparent he had a long recovery back from severed ligaments in his knee.
“It is the right thing to do,” Stoops said. “He made a commitment to us and we were committed to him." (ESPN.com)
Bob Stoops quickly dismissed one inquiry about the competition between Bell and junior Drew Allen, but co-offensive coordinator Josh Heupel implied a decision might be coming soon.

It's a lot different playing out on the perimeter than it is playing in the backfield, but he's got athletic ability and quickness and explosiveness, and those are all important things that we want to play at the receiver position,” Norvell said.
Norvell said Finch is working with both backs and receivers in practice.

Certainly he didn't have to, but Brown did. He told them he wanted to transfer to Oklahoma for his senior season, but wanted to ask what they thought about the idea first.

Former Sooner Terry Stotts named Portland Trail Blazers head coach: The Portland Trail Blazers hired former OU player Terry Stotts as head coach on Tuesday, filling the NBA's last coaching vacancy.
Stotts had a 115-168 record as coach of the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks before spending the past four seasons as an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks. He inherits a team that fell drastically short of expectations last season and heads into the new campaign with a roster that includes forwards LaMarcus Aldridge, Nicolas Batum, and a lot of question marks.
Stotts, 54, replaces Kaleb Canales, who went 8-15 in an interim role after Nate McMillan was fired.
“Terry is one of the elite offensive minds in the NBA, has extensive experience with multiple organizations and was instrumental in the Dallas Mavericks winning the 2011 NBA championship,” general manager Neil Olshey said.

Former Sooner WR Kameel Jackson plans to transfer to Louisiana-Monroe: Kameel Jackson has again announced his intent to transfer on Twitter.
This time, though, it seems his new school was expecting him.
Jackson, who was dismissed from Oklahoma's football team, is on scholarship at Louisiana-Monroe, enrolled in classes and practicing with the team, ULM director of media relations Alex Edwards confirmed.
Earlier in the day, Jackson tweeted that he's “officially” a student-athlete there. (The Oklahoman)

NORMAN, Okla. – Sooner wrestler Sam Hazewinkel (Pensacola, Fla.) was eliminated from Olympic competition Friday. The U.S. 55kg freestyler lost his first match of the 2012 London Olympic Games Friday morning to last year’s 2011 World Wrestling Championships 55kg bronze medalist, Daulet Niyazbekov of Kazakhstan, 2-0 (3-1, 2-0).
“I’ve loved every minute of my time in London,” said Hazwinkel. “I came here to win, so the loss has put a dampener on it, but I’ve got a taste for it now that I’ve been here. I’ll keep on training. I’m coming back,” stated the three-time Sooner All-American.
Niyazbekov executed a front headlock roll through for a 2-0 lead in the first period. Following his two-point lead, both wrestlers recorded one-point maneuvers before the two-minute period timed out, and handed the Kazakhstanian wrester a 1-0 lead via a 3-1 scoring advantage in the first period.

He remembers leading fellow Oklahoma running back Roy Finch on a sweep around right end, blocking on the first play of the OU-Kansas State game last Oct. 29, and having 228-pound linebacker Arthur Brown crash down on his lower left leg while tackling Finch.
NORMAN, Okla. – A pair of Oklahoma volleyball players, in junior Sallie McLaurin (Midwest City, Okla.) and sophomore Tara Dunn (Poth, Texas), were selected to the Preseason All-Big 12 team as announced by the conference office, Tuesday afternoon. The awards were chosen by league coaches who were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes.
Texas totaled three preseason team selections and swept the preseason individual honors as Bailey Webster and Molly McCage were named Preseason Player and Freshman of the Year, respectively. Both Iowa State and Kansas State join Texas as each team had three 2012 Preseason All-Big 12 Team selections.
In a class-by-class breakdown, five seniors, seven juniors and three sophomores earned preseason honors.
The 2012 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and AVCA All-America honorable mention, McLaurin, led the conference in blocks on the year, averaging 1.35 per set. During the regular season, the 6’2” middle blocker recorded 25 solo blocks and 132 blocks assists during the regular season.

All monies donated to the United Way of Norman will be distributed to the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

The University of Oklahoma and United Way of Norman previously partnered for a collective relief effort following a tornado outbreak in 2011, and continued those efforts after severe weather impacted areas throughout the state in April of this year.
The United Way of Norman works directly with agencies such as the American Red Cross and Salvation Army that have been providing round-the-clock assistance to Oklahomans in need. Oklahoma offensive lineman Tyler Evans suffers season-ending ACL injury: Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops is staying positive even as training camp has brought a series of unfortunate twists.
Starting offensive guard Tyler Evans was getting an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of a knee injury he suffered at the start of camp, yet another blow to a Sooners squad that was already going to be without five other players for the upcoming season.
Stoops revealed after Monday's practice that Evans was running down the field during the Sooners' first practice of training camp Friday when he was hurt.
"It may be a ligament. It may be cartilage," Stoops said before the MRI was performed. "If it's cartilage, he gets a break -- or we get a break. If it's not, then it could be bad. Until you get the MRI, you don't know."
Evans is Oklahoma's most experienced lineman left after starting center Ben Habern gave up the sport just last week because of lingering neck and back issues. Evans, a senior, has 29 career starts and has been in the lineup for the past 13 games in a row. Habern, another senior, had started 30 games. (ESPN)
Sterling Shepard, a former Heritage Hall standout and the son of late former OU receiver Derrick Shepard, has impressed Ikard.
“He’s going to play a lot of good football here,” Ikard said. “I’m excited to see all the plays he can make. I daresay he’s got some very similar movements to an 85 that we lost last year.” (The Oklahoman)
OU linemen Kasitati and Woods cleared to play: Offensive linemen Nila Kasitati and Austin Woods, two Sooners who have dealt with scary circumstances this offseason, should be on the field this season, Bob Stoops said Saturday during OU media day.
Kasitati, projected to be one of OU’s top reserves on the interior of the line, has been dealing with a heart condition that Stoops termed as not life threatening. Kasitati underwent a procedure earlier in the week.
“He'll be able to continue to play,” Stoops said
Woods, OU’s field-goal snapper in 2011, is back to man the same role, despite being diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in April. Woods underwent chemotherapy during the summer, but has since been cleared to play.
“Austin has done a tremendous job fighting through all these chemo treatments and cancer treatments and continues to be out there every day, enthusiastic,” Stoops said. “It’s been remarkable to watch him.” (ESPN.com)

The Sooners are headed to southern hemisphere as part of an overseas tour in which it will travel the east coast of Australia and play four exhibition games against teams from the nation's premier women's basketball league, the WNBL.
Thursday, Aug. 10, Oklahoma will face the Townsville Fire then play the reigning WNBL champion Dandenong Rangers Tuesday, Aug. 14. OU completes its Australian schedule facing the Maitland All-Stars on Aug. 15 and Sydney Flames on Aug. 17.
The preseason trip is not limited to basketball, however, as the Sooners will get to explore the land down under. Snorkeling around Great Barrier Reef, shopping at Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne and touring the Sydney Opera House are among the adventures planned.
The trip is funded by the Fast Break Club and with it the NCAA allows for 10 additional preseason practices. The Sooners began practice July 31 and will leave for Australia Tuesday.

Dalton, the two-time defending U.S. champion on the floor was the lone American competing Sunday. He qualified after his performance in the qualification round on July 28.
Dalton's first pass was an Arabian double layout, followed by a well-executed layout Thomas. After his side pass of one-and-a-half twist to double front full, he had a slight landing error. He finished his routine with a whip to tucked Thomas, a two-and-a-half to layout front full and dismounted with a clean triple full.
"I just wanted to go out there and have fun today," Dalton said. "I knew I'd have to be perfect to get a medal with my start value. I've done routines that would have been really close before, but it's hard to time it at the right time. I'll take fifth in the world."
"Jake did a nice floor routine in the finals," OU head coach Mark Williams said. "The first three competitors were amazing, which made medaling more difficult. Jake was great throughout the Olympic Games competitions. He was the only USA athlete to score above 15.00+ on every routine he did. I'm very proud of his performances."
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said Saturday that Jackson's time as a Sooner was over.
Jackson took to Twitter in early May to announce he intended to transfer to Texas A&M.
Jackson was suspended from OU a few days before — though it wasn't made public until later — but remained on scholarship with the hopes of being reinstated.
“Kameel won't be back,” Stoops said Saturday. “He won't be reinstated.

Brown has one season of eligibility and can play immediately for the Sooners.
At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Brown instantly becomes the biggest receiver on Oklahoma's roster. He was Penn State's second-leading receiver last season, grabbing 35 catches for 517 yards and two touchdowns. He was the Nittany Lions' most experienced returning receiver.
Brown ends his Penn State career with 1,047 receiving yards.
He was also dynamic as a returner, ranking 36th nationally in punt returns in 2011.
Brown, who visited Norman last weekend, plans to arrive in Oklahoma on Monday, the source said.
Brown will compete for a starting job immediately at OU. At the moment, the Sooners have only one non-suspended receiver -- junior Kenny Stills -- who has made a catch wearing an OU uniform. (ESPN.com)

The Southeastern Conference, whose teams have won the last six Bowl Championship Series titles, has five of the top 10 teams and leads all conferences with seven teams ranked in the top 25 that was unveiled Thursday.
The Big 12 has six teams, including newcomers West Virginia and TCU.

OU-UTEP tickets available to general public Aug. 20: Before tickets go on sale for the UTEP Miners' season opener against the Oklahoma Sooners, select season ticket holders will have access to a pre-sale a week earlier.
The Miners will face the Sooners at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 1, and tickets go on sale to the general public Aug. 20. Season ticket holders who either renewed or place a new order prior to June 1 can purchase up to 10 additional tickets to the Oklahoma game. Eligible season ticket holders will receive a postcard by mail, and all sales must be made in person with a photo ID by the person whose name is on the postcard.
The pre-sale for those select season ticket holders begins at 8 a.m. Aug. 13 at the University Ticket Center located at 2901 N. Mesa St. in front of the Don Haskins Center. The ticket center is opened Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ticket prices for the Oklahoma game are $25 for general admission, $35 for bronze reserved, $60 for silver reserved and $70 for gold reserved. (KFOX)
